Former Tottenham Hotspur star Brad Friedel has advised Aaron Ramsdale to join another club this summer.
The Goalkeeper said that Ramsdale is to good to sit on the bench.
Friedel also explained why Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta preferred Spanish goalkeeper, David Raya, to Ramsdale.
Ramsdale was Arteta’s first-choice goalkeeper throughout last season as the club fell behind Manchester City in their contest for the Premier League honour.
However, Arteta recruited Raya on loan from Brentford last summer, and the Spaniard immediately relegated Ramsdale to the bench at the North London club.
Speaking with Sky Sport, Friedel stated that Arteta’s decision was backed by statistics.
“I think when you look at the stats – and they are non-subjective stats, so it’s not just about who we like better – the biggest difference is David Raya’s shot prevention value.
“It’s remarkable how quick his feet are when he’s coming out for crosses or sweeping up. That really separated him from Aaron Ramsdale, and with the way Arsenal played, that might be the tipping point of why they prefer Raya.
“I think the stats back Arsenal’s faith in Raya, and that is fine, but Ramsdale is too good to be sitting on the bench.
The former Blackburn Rovers’ safe hands opined that Ramsdale needs to find a regular football elsewhere, adding that both goalies are very talented.
