Following the death of the Kwara State House of Assembly Majority Leader, Hon. Olawoyin Mogaji, the choice of candidate to replace the late astute politician has been trailed by series of political intrigues among stakeholders in the Magajin Geri Constituency.

Amid directive from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), that the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) must present a candidate on or before Friday, January 20, 2022 deadline, several aspirants have indicated interest to fill the vacuum created by the deceased lawmaker.

While there have been speculations about a certain preferred candidates for the coveted seat by stakeholders, EVENTNG reports that the search for who to represent Magajin Geri Constituency on the ballot in the 2023 general elections seems to have been narrowed down to Hon. Orire Ibrahim Olanrewaju, the current Special Adviser to Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Transport.

Orire hails from Osin/Warrah, Egbejila Ward, Ilorin West Local Government of the state.

This is coming on the heels of several endorsements received from various Youth and Women Associations that cut across all the wards in the State Constituency,

Coordinator of ABIKE AA Forum, AbdulRazak Afusat, attributed the forum unflinching support for Hon. Orire Ibrahim Olanrewaju to his high level of transparency, humility, and philanthropic gestures through his various empowerment programmes for women, youth and the aged in the Magajin Geri Constituency.

Leader of Dynamic Youth Forum, Hammad Lawal noted that the uncommon virtues Orire had exhibited over the years, even before his appointment as SA Transport, justify the reason they are currently throwing their weight behind him.

Coordinator of Progressive Forum Warrah, Mohammed Suleiman also implored the selection committee to do a diligent job by rewarding Hon. Orire with the vacant seat, giving assurance that the opportunity would enable him to serve his constituents better.

On the final note, a political group, APC FOR BETTER LEADERSHIP said, replacing Olawoyin with Orire in the Kwara 9th Assembly is like putting a round peg in a round hole.
