The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Kwara State University (KWASU) Branch, celebrates the release of detained comrades from SSANU, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE): Comrades Faleye Benjamin, Ademola Mutiu, Oyelude Yekeen, Aluko Ayomikun, and Nwokeke Barnabas.
The association made this known in a statement signed its chairman, Comrade Abdulsalam Jimoh Kannike, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
Kannike extolled the timely intervention of Ekiti State governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, opting the governor’s whose action prevented the situation from degenerating to industrial crisis.
He also appreciated the National Vice President (West), Comrade Abdulsobur Olayiwola Salam (PhD), and the National President, Comrade Mohammed Haruna Ibrahim, for their courage and support.
The chairman in a strong term, decried the circumstances leading to the arrests, allegedly instigated by the Vice-Chancellor of FUOYE, Prof. Abayomi S. Fasina, explaining that such actions violate the principles of dialogue, industrial harmony, and the constitutional rights of workers to associate freely.
He therefore charged the Minister of Education to look into the matter in order to forestall subsequent occurrences in the Nigerian university system.
