A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ota, Ogun State, has on Monday, condemned a 24-year-old Point of Sales (POS) agent, Yusuf Olamilekan, to 18 months imprisonment for gambling with huius employer’s N1 million.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo ruled that the convict be sentenced to 18 months imprisonment or pay a fine of N60,000.

Fadairo also ordered the convict to refund the N1 million to the complainant, Emeka, and Jane Company.

She revealed that the prosecution counsel had reasonably proven her case without any iota of doubt that the convict was guilty of the charge levelled against him.

The convict had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

The prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye informed the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 7, at 6 p.m., at Sango-Ota.

Adaraloye stated that the defendant illegally made a withdrawal of N1 million from his employer’s account, Emeka and Jane Company, without approval, to play gamble.

He maintained that the defendant eventually lost the money, stressing that the offence was contrary to Section 383 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
